heavy snow pervades a pine tree’s personal space

and so it opens up for the perspicacious and devious
branches bend backwards like an archer’s bow
reaching for something to grasp
perhaps for support,
perhaps for something elsewhere untangilable
from the seed, trees construct themselves from the ground up
enduring, adapting, and
a childhood passes from this organic growth until
they let the sunlight burn
