Walk On Ice

Swetha Mathai, Staff Writer

I stand up
Straight and tall
I see the curve of the Earth
From a distance, so far
There are no trees
Surrounding me
It’s just me, and the ice below my feet

I walk on ice
Cold hearted stone
I’m not afraid to die
I’m not afraid of being alone
I walk on ice
I won’t slip into the Earth
I’m not going to die
Because my feet are solid on the ground
I won’t let myself fall down
I walk on ice
I’m strong, still and steady as stone
