Gaining Momentum: Warren’s Bill Dawson XC Recap

Gaining Momentum: Warren's Bill Dawson XC Recap

Full of 3 mile runs, warm weather, and hype music, the Blue Devils hosted the Bill Dawson Invitational this past weekend for cross country. From Maine South to Conant High School near Schamburg, Warren was excited to host 30 schools on Saturday.

Last year, all teams ran three miles, with the blue devils highly ranked within the junior varsity events. The frosh/soph team for men’s took eleventh out of twenty and the women’s took fifteenth. Among the JV Men’s division, Warren took home the fourth rank across 15 different teams, and the junior varsity women’s division took second place among 16 teams. The varsity men’s team took eighth out of twenty last year and the women’s varsity took seventh. With last year’s successes behind us, the new year brings new races, and Warren is ready to win.

The race included 3 big loops, briefly cutting through a trail and finishing it off in the stadium for the final mile.

Over the course of the past weekend, our freshmen/sophomore teams in both men and women finished first overall for their team out of over fourteen schools. For the boys, Tyler Koehl took home third running a 16:26 and Marcus Schenk finished seventh and ran a 16:37. Syndey Wilson finished first for Warren, running a 19:34.

For varsity, Kaylee Wilson brought a first place finish for the Blue Devils. Leading the way for other teams, Wilson ran a 17:58. See some amazing photos of her terrific lead below. On the boys side, Andru Koehl finished twelfth running a 15:53 and Brody Wiley finished twenty-fourth with a time of 16:15.

Junior Varsity had an amazing run. Anthony Benitez, Abraham Pantoja, Enrique Goytia, and Noah Valko all placed among the top twenty in their division.

Congratulations to all the amazing athletes who ran and to the coaches dedicating their time to this breathtaking sport. See some more exciting photos below!
