Do you want a place to hang out after school in a safe and positive environment? If you do, then I recommend that you visit the Warren Township Teen Center, which is located down the street from the WTHS Almond Campus and Woodland Middle School.
You can take part in many activities at the Teen Center. Here are some things you can do:
- Play board games like Sorry and Monopoly, card games like Magic The Gathering, role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons, or video games like Super Smash Bros.
- Watch a movie
- Read a good book in a quiet area
- Play games outside like Nuke Em’ and Gaga Ball
- 3D print your own creation
- Just chill out!
You can do most of these activities every day at the Teen Center, although some may only be available on certain days. To play Magic the Gathering or Dungeons & Dragons, you will need a free membership.
Occasionally, the Teen Center will go on field trips, like the one to the Cubs vs. Brewers baseball game on the 29th. You will need to pay money for some outings.
If you have some money, you can visit the snack shop where you can buy your favorite snacks. The prices range from 25 cents to $4.00.
You can also find some clubs and groups at the Teen Center, like the Agriculture Club and Girls Group.
The Teen Center is open during the school year from 2-8 PM from Monday to Thursday and from 2-6 PM on Fridays.
The Teen Center is also open during the summer months, offering additional field trip opportunities. Last summer, the Teen Center went to Action Territory, the Barefoot Bay water park, the Lake County Fair, the movie theater, and Woodfield Mall! The Teen Center also goes on nature walks during this time, so if you’re a fan of those, you should check out the center.
The summer hours of the Teen Center are from 8 AM to 6 PM.
You will need to become a member of the Teen Center to visit. The fee is $25 for the school year, and $25 for the summer.
To register for the Teen Center, go to this link and click on “After School Drop-in Programs”. You can also purchase the ability to go on some field trips and sign up for clubs and groups here. For other information about the Teen Center, visit this site.
