The Blue Devils defeated South Elgin Saturday afternoon, defeating the Storm 51-21. Mcneal and Stewart carried the workload on the ground again combining for 5 touchdowns. Receivers Nate Foster and Xzayvion Montgomery both found the endzone as well, with Montgomery scoring on a 45 yard pass from Jack Wolf.
The win means that Warren will advance to the quarter-finals and will face #2 Lincoln Way-East. Lincoln Way-East is a familiar opponent for the Blue Devils as they lost to the Griffins in the quarter-finals last year in Frankfort. This year, Warren Township will play host to Lincoln Way-East to try to earn the right to advance to the semi-finals.
Beating Lincoln-Way East will not be an easy task for the Devils. The Griffins have gone 11-0 this season, blowing out every team but Batavia, where they won 14-13. Coach Mcnulty said that Lincoln-Way is “as advertised” so the team will need to play their best to win. But, if the Devils were to advance, they would face the winner of Maine South vs. Barrington. If Barrington wins, the Blue Devils would play another home game. If Maine South wins, the Devils would play in Park Ridge.
Lincoln Way-East vs. Warren Township is slated for 7 P.M. on Saturday, November 11th.
