Are you looking for some book recommendations? I’ve got just the fall reads. This November, I sent out a survey to a handful of teachers at Warren Township High School to gather book recommendations to accompany the ever chilling weather. Here are some of the responses I got, including one recommendation of my own!
1. What The River Knows By: Isabel Ibanez
As the first of the “Secrets of the Nile” book series, this story follows Inez Olivera’s fantastical adventure in Egypt on a passionate mission to discover the truth behind her parents’ bewitching death. This book is sure to transport you to a whole new land and time, the perfect story to drift into this fall!
- Genres: Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Magic, Romance, Adventure, Young Adult
2. If We Were Villains By: M.L. Rio
For those of you who loved reading Shakespeare in English class, this one’s for you. If We Were Villains follows the dark story of Oliver Marks, and the uncovering of the truth behind a suspicious death that occurred years before at his college of fine arts. With bloody twists and dark prose, this book is sure to hook your attention!

3. Mad Honey By: Jodi Picoult & Jennifer Finney Boylan
Mad Honey is a suspenseful story about the exploration and discovery of desired identity. This book follows 18-year-old Asher Fields, and a case in which he is charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Lily Campanello. This story takes a deep look at the way trauma and abuse synchronize with the secrets we keep and risks we take to follow our hearts.

Thank you to every teacher who responded to this survey! Happy reading!
