Winter sports are in full swing here at WTHS and I want to take the time to talk about the JV and Varsity Devilettes. Their competition season started off on October 25th and they go until late/ middle February. Which means a lot of practice time. They practice for a little over two hours everyday after school both JV and Varsity.
The Devilettes traveled to the Mundelein invite to start the season off strong with JV and Varsity both finishing in 2nd place!! At their second competition at Naperville North invite Varsity placed 5th out of 27 teams and JV placed top half out of the 3a division. Their next competition they traveled to Stevenson and both teams ended up placing in the top half of their divisions. After practicing all winter break they traveled to the Huntley invite and came back strong and both teams finished in 1st place. What an amazing way to start 2024.
After that they went to the conference at Almond and JV placed 3rd and Varsity placed 4th. Then lastly they went to their final competition at South Elgin and unfortunately neither of the teams placed but still got top half. Then varsity made their way to sectionals at Jacobs high school where they ended up placing 4th and going to state. At state in Bloomington they performed very well but sadly they didn’t move onto day two placing just outside of the requirements.
Way to go ladies on an incredible season this year and If you want to know more about the requirements to join and just more in general look at a previous article made by some other scratch paper members called a Dive into the Devilettes Competition Season.
