The 2025 girls golf season has officially come to a close, capping off a fun and rewarding journey for a team that welcomed 10 new players this year.
Led by the steady guidance of Coach Boncher and Coach Georgatsos (“G”), the team returned to its home course at Bittersweet Golf Club in mid-August. The heart of the season—September—was packed, with twice-weekly matches after school and weekend 18-hole tournaments for the varsity squad.
Practices were a mix of time on the course and focused sessions on the range, working on putting and driving in small groups. Whether players were brand new to the game or returning veterans, every athlete found opportunities to grow. “In golf, each hole is a fresh start. It’s all about approaching every shot with focus, confidence, and a positive mindset,” said Coach Boncher.
For those new to golf, team scoring is based on the top four scores out of six players, so every stroke matters. The team competed in a challenging conference schedule and consistently improved throughout the season. One of the core lessons learned? In golf, the small things—smart decisions, solid fundamentals, and mental toughness—make all the difference. Of course, there were no Happy Gilmore-style drives (though we may have joked about it on the range).
Team co-captains Tessa Youngman and Taylor Axon (also known as T&T) led with energy and enthusiasm, even organizing a memorable captain’s practice filled with team bonding, laughs—and pizza. “We helped our teammates out with learning the sport with positive attitudes and lifting everyone up. This season, everyone did really well, and we had the most people on the Girls Golf Team. It was such a great season to end our golf careers as being captains.” said Captains Tessa and Taylor or T & T.

Team Beyond the Tee
Our team’s pride extends beyond golf. Every season, we dedicate time to volunteer as a team, giving back to the community and building stronger bonds off the course. This year, we packed meals at Feed My Starving Children and helped sort donations at Bernie’s Book Bank. We also raised $2500 through raffle ticket sales to support the team, which helps provide team gear, apparel, meals, activities, contest prizes, awards, golf balls, etc.
And let’s not forget the bus rides, team dinners, and post-match lunches—some of our best memories were made off the course, cheering each other on after personal records were broken.
Thank You, Seniors
We said farewell to our 10 seniors, and we are so grateful for their leadership, mentorship, and the example they set for new and younger players. Their positivity and team spirit will be missed!
As we pack up our clubs for the offseason, here’s one last tip: if you’re looking for a great golf show to stream, check out “Stick” on Apple TV+. You might just get inspired for next season. Here’s to straight drives, clutch putts, and another season of growing together. See you next year!
