Three years ago, February 14th, 2021, students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school were killed by a former student named Nikolas Cruz. Cruz left 17 dead and several injured as a result of this incident. Parkland survivors David Hogg, Emma Gonzalez, and Jaclyn Corn among others started the March for our Lives movement and asked for gun control to be put in place so this doesn’t happen again. On this day we remember those who lost their lives on Valentine’s Day 2018. According to David Hogg, “they’re still fighting for gun control and safer schools so school shootings don’t happen again.” Past shootings include 1999 at Columbine High School killing 13 and at Sandy Hook in 2012 killing 27 including 1st and 2nd graders.
