On Wednesday, October 8th, the Warren Girls Cross Country team journeyed down to Lake Forest to race the annual “Lights Out” 2 mile! It was a fun filled night with many great times and achievements. Different from the usual 3 mile
races, this was a special, very fast, and short race. Among the fun body paint, flashing lights, and hype energy, there was an abundance of personal records set by multiple Warren runners.
There were many exceptional performances on the Varsity level, where the team took 1st place. Kaylee Wilson took 1st with a time of 11:14, Teagan O’Neill took 5th with a time of 11:45, and Sydney Wilson took 7th with a time of 11:46, which were all personal bests for these hard working girls.
On the JV level, the Girls team once again had 3 girls in the top 10. Brandy McGill in 5th with a time of 13:01, Emma
Garner in 7th with a time of 13:14, and Milena Gaiser in 8th with a time of 13:18 all ran amazing races. The JV squad also got 1st place!
Finally, representing Warren in the Girls’ open race, Lizzie Mertz placed in 10th with a time of 14:26!
Overall, the Girls team dominated over all the other schools and finished off the night in first place. Congratulations to all these dedicated runners that left it all on the course and gave it their all! Everyone’s hard work and effort contributed to the team’s win. Go Blue Devils!
