Olivia Wong’s poem “A Story of Escape” was inspired by the idea of freedom and independence from the things that hold you back in your life, and the concept of living for yourself. Olivia used an extended metaphor referencing Red Riding Hood with a unique twist in the story of the girl protecting her grandmother from the wolf she was afraid of. This poem focuses on the importance of living for oneself rather than focusing our responsibility on others.
