The annual Fill the Drum Band Fundraiser was held on September 21, 2023 at 7:00 PM at the Warren Township High School O’Plaine Campus football stadium. Four marching bands from Viking Middle School, Woodland Middle School, and Warren Township High School performed their shows from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
To start off the evening, the Gurnee District 56 Marching Vikings performed their marching show and played Smoke On The Water arranged by Mike Story and Hot Samba Nueva by James Swearingen. Special thanks to Molly Elvert, Glenn Eikenberry, and Steven Boswell for directing the Marching Vikings. Shout out to the drum majors Farren McCormack, Quinn Carnduff, and Kiana Braun.
The 2nd group was the Woodland Middle School Marching Wildcats who performed Roar by Katy Perry, Stronger by Kelly Clarkson, and YMCA by The Village People. Special thanks to Elise Matusek, Carolyn Awe, Greg Zalapi, and Kayla Kahanic for directing the Marching Wildcats. Shout out to the drum majors Ally Jarosz and Naana Kwakye. The marching performance was dedicated to Dr. Scott Mitchell, a cherished 8th grade social studies teacher.
The 3rd group to perform was the Warren Township Blue Devils Non-Competition Marching Band. They performed Halo Theme by Marty O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori and arranged by Ralph Ford, Pokemon Theme by T. Loeffler and J. Siegler and arranged by Johnnie Vinson, and Megalovania by Toby Fox and arranged by Paul Murtha and Will Rapp.
The 4th group to perform was the Warren Township Blue Devils Competition Marching Band. They performed their show Ripples on the Water which included Gymnopedie by Erik Satie, Aquarium, and Shenandoah. Special thanks to Kurt Gros, Lawrence Rodgers, and David Tribley for directing the fantastic bands at Warren Township High School.
The amount raised at Fill the Drum totaled to be $4,690 and was matched by the Hawaiian Way Fund. The Hawaiian Way Fund is a non-profit donor program that launched the Kako’o Maui Campaign which matches every dollar as an effort to give resources to the Hawaiian communities impacted by the Maui wildfires.
