Tracking Ghosts at O’Plaine
Supernatural Club

Ghosts: the wandering, intangible, hidden spirits that exist all over the world. You might walk in a graveyard or wander inside a haunted house until the wind blows past you. Sure it might be just ordinary wind but another possibility is that it is a ghost. Whether it is real or not, the concept of the spiritual world has so much depth, mystery, and history that it can fascinate anyone. It is so fascinating that two students decided to form an entire club surrounding paranormal activity and call it, the supernatural club.

On most Tuesday’s, students who have an interest in the paranormal gather together at O’Plaine High school, in room 205, at 3:20 to 4:05 pm. In this room, students express their feelings on this topic as well as their own experiences. The discussions will center around how to be more safe around the supernatural. They will look into the past history of Warren and the interesting stories. It isn’t just limited to just those activities, the sponsor of the club, Mrs. Vignaroli, further explains that,” They discuss, teach about, and use things like Tarot cards, pendulums, and various electronic equipment”.

The aforementioned tarot card reading is an activity where a practitioner uses a variety of cards to give a person insight into the past, present, and even the future. Items like the pendulums can be used for energy flowing and reaching a higher state of consciousness spiritually. However, this is just reaching the surface of activities in this club. The club even participates in spirit interaction and to best explain that is to understand why the club started in the first place.

The club formed, like many other clubs, due to the interests of the student leaders. The student leaders, Isabeau Puccini and Hailey Castillo, had this hobby in mind for a while due to their experiences talking to a ghost their freshman year. Isabeau elaborates,” I had been using a pendulum for spiritual and religious stuff in my personal life for a little while at that point. I brought it to school one day and me and Hailey were sitting together. I brought up the pendulum and how it could talk to ghosts or other things, and she said we should try and talk to a ghost.  So, I took out my pendulum and tried to contact a ghost that may or may not be in the cafeteria, and it ended up working. We started talking with the ghost during our lunch period and eventually found out his name was Chad. We also talked to some other ghosts and things, but we mainly talked to Chad. He’s a pretty cool ghost and really chill.” It turns out that there is a total of forty ghosts roaming around in O’Plaine High School after interacting with Chad.

In this club, any student can have the chance to meet with all of them. An opportunity like this can only be found in the supernatural club. From its community, to the engaging activities they participate in, any student will gain a greater understanding from the world above us that is the
supernatural.
