School food is an important part of many students’ day, with a big percentage of them purchasing cafeteria food on a daily basis. We decided to do a deeper dive on this and figure out the pros and cons of the food that is served at the WTHS cafeteria.
Pros:
-
- Sweets
We asked multiple students about their opinions on the sweets in the lunch room, and they all had positive things to say. The most popular sweets were the chocolate chip cookies by far, which everyone said were delicious. Some students, however, claimed to have noticed a price raise which they were disappointed with.
2. Paninis
- For most interviewed students, the paninis were one of their favorite lunch options, with many of them complementing the price to food ratio along with the variety of paninis that you can purchase. However, the paninis are so good that the lines can sometimes become a bit much.
- 3. Popcorn Chicken
- The popcorn chicken might be the best item on the menu. It’s highly recommended by many students due to the delightful flavor and consistency of the dish.
- 4. Food Service
The exceptional and quick food service at WTHS gives students access to more time during their lunch period to be productive instead of waiting in endless lines.
Cons:
- Price
This was the biggest complaint we have from both the students and staff. The students complained about how they are broke highschoolers having to pay $7 for loaded fries or $4 for a protein bar. These prices have dissuaded many people from buying school lunch at WTHS.
2. Pizza
Many students have complained about the consistency of the pizza, stating that it tends to be “doughy” and under-cooked. However, when it comes out fresh it’s highly rated by many students.
Overall, the WTHS cafeteria offers a wide range of options that attract many students, from the paninis and cookies to the delicious popcorn chicken. However, the increase in prices and inconsistent quality of certain items have sparked epiphanies among both students and staff. While the food service remains efficient and friendly, it’s clear that many hope for more affordable pricing moving forward.
