The Success and Future of Analisa Cress

Daniel Michalec, Staff Writer

A senior, Analisa Cress, has had a considerable amount of accomplishments throughout their high school years, but an accomplishment from a few months ago stands out among the rest. Analisa Cress was chosen to play the french horn in the orchestra for the All-State production, Shrek, in the High School Theatre Festival at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

It was exciting news not only to Analisa, but to their friends and teachers. I had the opportunity to speak with Analisa about the whole experience. They were eager to say, “Combining some of my two favorite things, playing horn and theatre, was an awesome experience to have had, and especially at a state level…Witnessing and being in the presence of so many truly inspirational and young talented musicians was life changing.” It is very ironic considering a surplus of Analisa’s friends and teachers say that about them. A friend of Analisa’s, Erika Relayson told me directly, “When I heard that Nisa would be part of the All-state production, I wasn’t surprised when I found out they made the orchestra considering their unmatched talent.” Analisa or ‘Nisa’ as they’re also known as have unique talent unlike any other.

It is obvious being a musician is a huge part of their identity, but they are also involved in other parts of fine art. Analisa is also currently involved in theatre, writing, and ceramics. The point being that they have a huge passion for fine arts and that is what makes them so special. You don’t see anyone else like Analisa where they are dedicated to so many activities. Even Analisa’s band director, Mr. Gros was astonished by their talent with the french horn. When he first heard Analisa play the french horn, he said, “WOAH, listen to this freshman play the french horn! You don’t get a horn player like that…let alone one that understands the whole picture at such a young age.” Mr. Gros was not lying when he said that. Analisa started playing the French horn in fifth grade which explains the magnificent talent heard from them today with so many years of experience.

Not only does Analisa play the french horn for band, but they used to make their own music. Another way of expressing themself and posted these songs to Spotify. Coming so far in their music and talent, Analisa has begun to consider their future and the dream job they want: to be a high school level music educator and director! It is absolutely applauding to hear that they want to continue their journey with band and fine arts. Working well with kids can be hard, but Analisa has shown that they can work wonderfully with others.

Aside from being an amazing band member, Analisa is mature beyond their years and is not only an excellent student, but a wonderful friend to be around. They inspire so many other people to follow their dreams and that is the kind of friend everyone needs. Analisa not only cares for their friends, but even takes a moment to realize how beautiful life is and appreciate it. Overall, Analisa is a very emotionally-oriented and driven person who has a bright, big future ahead of them and I even wish them the best of luck.
