CHROMA MUSIC VIDEO
On Wednesday, October 16th, Tyler, the creator, previewed a music video for a song called “ST. CHROMA”. The video starts off with a gray filter and Tyler marching. He seems to be showing off his new persona with the mask and split hairstyle. The camera then pans to a bunch of masked figures following Tyler. Tyler continues to rap quietly as he leads these silhouettes into a shipping container with the word “Chromakopia” on it. The shipping container is then blown up as the filter returns the colors of the video. The video then ends with a green background and the word “Chromakopia”.
Throughout the song, vocals from Daniel Caesar are featured and many speculate that some of the backup vocals were sung by the estranged singer Frank Ocean. The masked figures that follow Tyler are speculated by many to be artists featured on his new album. Many theorize the silhouettes to be artists like Jaden Smith, Frank Ocean, Pharrell Williams and Brent Faiyaz.

Chromakopia album details
Chromakopia is confirmed as the title of the album and will be released on October 28th according to Tyler’s Instagram. Monday seems like an odd day to drop an album as the weekend normally is when albums are released. According to a past interview, Tyler reasoned that dropping music in the middle of the week instead of the weekend would make people “really listen” and “dive in” to the music rather than passively listen to it. The word Chromakopia combines the word “Chroma” which means color and “kopia”. This could hint at the meaning of the album dealing with colors or racial themes. His new persona is based on the character Chroma The Great from the Phantom Tollbooth. Chroma is the conductor of the orchestra which colors every day. Without Chroma, the world would be without color.

Could Frank Ocean make his return?
As mentioned earlier, many speculate that the background vocals and one of the silhouettes to be the Singer Frank Ocean. Could Frank Ocean finally return to the world of music? Although all these statements are just rumors, a lot of signs have been pointing to the singer’s return. In a recent interview, Pharrell Williams was asked about Frank to which he responded that Frank was “cooking”. Chromakopia will also be released on October 28th which coincidentally is Frank’s birthday. But we all know Frank Ocean fans are delusional and cope with theories. Frank and Tyler are close friends and fans yearn for more collaborations of those two.
