Which witch is which? Is she a good witch? Or a bad witch?
The WTHS Marching Blue Devils 2024 show titled “Which Witch is Which” was built around this theme. The show featured music from Dies Irae, Sleeping Beauty by Tchaikovsky, Defying Gravity from Wicked, I Put a Spell on You by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, and Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saens.
Under the direction of Drum Majors Mia Ramirez, Kelsi Mulley, and Sema Asmar, the Blue Devils participated in five competitions and two showcases. The season started off strong with the band winning first in Class 3A, best auxiliary, best percussion, and Grand Champion at the North Knights Marching Festival in September. They then participated in a double header competition, winning third in Class 2A and best color guard at the Victor J Andrew Marching Invitational and first in Class 2A, best visual, best color guard, and Grand Champion at the Spartan Classic. Before competition in the state competitions, the band performed at the Providence Catholic Invitational, winning second place in class 2A.
To end the season, the Marching Blue Devils competed in the Illinois State University Marching Band Championships in October. The band placed 3rd in class 6A, making it to the state finals where they placed 10th overall. The Marching Blue Devils worked hard this year to make a great show and great memories.
