For the Lake County Board, candidates Steve Carlson (Republican) and Carissa Casbon (Democrat) are up for election. Steve Carlson has been on the Lake County Board for 17 years. The reason for Carlson wanting to still be a part of the board has been mainly due to the pandemic and the known stresses it has had on the people of Lake County. COVID-19 has also been affecting the budget of the board as they have to help with accommodations. Carlson says his main focus if re-elected will have to do with helping those who have been hurt through mental and physical stressors created by the pandemic. Carlson also advocates for complete transparency when it comes to the Lake County Board and the citizens of Lake County. Just like Carlson, Casbon also wants to help address and better the COVID-19 situation in Lake County and complete transparency between the board and the people. Casbon also wants to address the property tax dilemma in Lake County. She wishes to lower property taxes because she believes that the Lake County Board has continued to leech off of taxpayers by unnecessarily raising taxes. Both candidates have websites that voters can check out to find more information on their priorities and prior experience.
