The Warren Boys Varsity Soccer Team has a current record of 6-6-1 and is looking to improve in the upcoming weeks. Following three conference losses against Stevenson, Lake Zurich, and Mundelein, the boys finally came out with a win against Waukegan High School this past week. Still, the boys hope to improve their record as the season progresses.
Lucas Ahonen, one of the three senior captains, says, “Our season hasn’t gone the way we had visioned, but from day one of tryouts up to this point, there has been massive improvement.”
Similarly, Chris Crowson, another senior captain, states, “Our energy and intensity has improved a lot and even though we haven’t gotten the results we want, I am still very proud of how hard we’ve been playing and how we don’t quit until the game is over.”
The score at the end of each game, however, doesn’t do justice to the efforts and commitment that the boys have put in so far this season. The connection between the boys seems to be much bigger and stronger than wins or losses. As the third senior captain Diego Torres states, “I’m so blessed to be able to be a part of such a special team and amazing group of guys.”
As the 2023 season continues on, the boys look forward to playing against tough Kenosha Tremper and Lake Forest teams in their upcoming games.
“This has been a very young and resilient group that continues to work hard no matter the circumstances,” says head coach Jason Ahonen. “We need to continue to grow both individually and as a group. Almost every game this year has been competitive.”
