Last week, the Warren Bands kicked off the winter season with two days of concerts featuring some holiday music as well as some other band music! On Wednesday, Concert Band I and Concert Band II made their debuts. Concert II started the night with Repercussions, In the Shining Stars, Cold Mountain Saga, and Jingle Bell Rock. Concert I then took the stage in a selection containing Crown Him with Many Crowns, Hymn to Joy, Melodious Thunk, and Encanto. The O’Plaine bands did a great job starting the concert cycle!
On Thursday, the Almond bands took the stage, starting with Concert Band Almond. Concert Band Almond performed English Folksong Suite I. (Seventeen Come Sunday), Not So Silent Night, Northern Lights, and Timepiece. Next, Symphonic Band II played Xerxes, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Prelude, Siciliano, and Rondo. To finish the night and the winter concert cycle, Symphonic Band I had an impressive selection. They played Armenian Dances Part I, Be Thou My Vision, and Symphonic Movement. Finally, it would not be a high school band concert if Sleigh Ride was not played. Symphonic Band I invited staff to play this classic holiday band piece with them, and while Mr. Vranek was the only staff member brave enough to play with the band, they had a ton of fun playing this must-have song! The marching band mascot, Jeffery Pickles, even made an appearence conducting the band.
