The Injustice Of Rohingya Muslims

It’s 2017, and we’re still dealing with countries executing those whose belief system isn’t the same as the State’s.

Rohingya Muslims are being killed to the point where they are trying so hard to leave and find another place to live.  More than 600,000 of them have fled to Bangladesh to avoid being murdered. These refugees are also making matters difficult for Bangladesh because it’s a destitute country.  Thankfully, Bangladeshis are going out of their way to make sure the Rohingya Muslims are taken care of.

America has yet to make any substantial moves aid the Rohingya Muslims, but it’s rumored that the US is mulling announcing condemnation of Myanmar for ethnic cleansing. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was denounce the Myanmar military’s brutal violence on the country’s Rohingya Muslim minority last week, but he has failed to label the atrocity as crimes against humanity or ethnic cleansing.  Undeniably, Rohingya Muslims are getting slaughtered due to their faith.

These refugees carry with them painful stories of mass shootings, murdered children, razed villages, and rape by gangs. This violence has led activists to call upon Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi to condemn her country’s military.  However, she has declined to do so; she was bestowed a Nobel Peace Prize for her humanity-loving ideals, but she neglects them now.

According to Sarah Wildman’s article, UNICEF representative Sakil Faizullah described to her via Skype the drawings of attacked children in refugee camps on the Bangladesh border: “They are drawing bullets being shot. They are drawing helicopters flying over[,] and they are drawing fire. With green marker, they are drawing human figures, with red crayon they are drawing blood.”

No child should ever be going through such a traumatizing experience. But sadly events, like this are still going on around the world. People just decide to ignore it. The world has a long journey before life can be fair for everyone.
