Crochet Club

A new club at WTHS
Crochet Club

Warren was in need of a new club that encouraged new ideas, created a safe space for all students, and to build a community of kind and creative  people. This motivated senior Racheal Olusesan to create the newest club here at Warren, the Crochet Club. “I thought it would be nice if other crocheters could come together and people can learn how to crochet, that’s why I applied to start the Crochet Club”. Racheal explained.

Their first ever meeting took place at the O’Plaine campus in the Blue Devil Den on Wednesday, October 11th, not even a month before writing this article. Meetings occur every 2 weeks and are getting increasingly more attendees each time. It is encouraged to bring your own materials, like yarns and hooks, but they will be provided if needed and are even available for purchase. The Crochet Club is entirely student run by President, Racheal Olusesan, Vice President, Caitlin Cozart, and Social Media Manager, Katherine Zamudio, along with Ms. Ginter, who has taken on the responsibility of sponsoring the club. Gillian Hausfeld, a senior here at Almond who has recently joined the Crochet Club, was kind enough to share their story. “I wanted to be involved, and I didn’t have any clubs on Wednesdays, so I joined! I also wanted to get over the hurdle of being a beginner crocheter by having some help too.” Gillian explains that the Crochet Club’s mission is to “have a family-like atmosphere, where everyone feels welcome and okay to learn.”

It can be said that the Crochet Club has been a great success so far and all are thrilled to watch it grow into something bigger and better.
