For the last two decades, the Green Bay Packers have had a Hall of Fame quarterback leading their offense with Brett Favre (1992-2008) and Aaron Rodgers (2008-2022).  Rodgers was drafted in 2005 and was Favre’s backup for three years until he took over once Favre left the Packers.

Jordan Love has had a very similar experience to Aaron Rodgers.  Jordan Love was drafted by the Packers in 2020 and was Rodgers backup for three years until Rodgers left the Packers for the Jets.  Right from the jump there are a lot of similarities between the two, but they don’t stop there.  Through 11 games in both Rodgers’s and Love’s career they have started with a record of 5-6 and have thrown for 2,599 yards.

The media has had a lot of attention on Jordan Love this season and the narrative has flipped on him week to week.  For the first week or two, it was said he was the next franchise quarterback; then for the next few weeks he was considered a bust, and now he is back to being the next great Green Bay quarterback.  After the stellar performance against the Chiefs analysts are saying Jordan Love is the real deal, but is it too early to tell?

Pressure needs to be taken off of Jordan Love. Love is in his first season where the offense is truly his and everyone is already trying to figure out if he will be in the hall of fame or not.  Reports should come out about Love in his second, third, or even fourth season where teams know who he is, how he plays, and what his weaknesses are.  As of right now there is no telling whether or not Love will be great.  There have been many instances where a player is phenomenal for a few games or even an entire season, but isn’t even close to the player they were the next season.  The only way to find out how good Jordan Love will be is to wait.

It’s safe to say that Packers fans are hoping for another 10 years of greatness, while the rest of the NFL is hoping for Love to crumble under the pressure.  Eventually Jordan Love’s story will be written and there will be no more guessing games, but that will not come to fruition for a few seasons.
