With the season over halfway over, the Boys’ Soccer Team is smothering most of their competition. With a team of only upperclassmen including 15 seniors, this is their year to reclaim their championship with roster is full of players that are capable of taking the team far this year due to their experience and talent.

The first half of the season has flown by for the team with ten wins, seven of them shutouts. Captain Richie Flores assured that they win comfortably for a majority of the season; however, with two close ties, the team has had to fight hard to keep their record of 10-1-2. They started the season off with a tie to Hersey. This only motivated them to fight harder, and they have delivered.

Winning both the Knights Invitational and the Indian Trail Tournaments, their out-of-conference play is strong. So far they have only had two conference games, both against tough opponents: Libertyville and Lake Zurich. The team lost to Libertyville on the road, and it was a tough match being their only loss thus far. Lake Zurich, whom they tied last year as well, also proved to be a fight. The Blue Devils came back after getting scored on in the first half, with Macheras saving the day in the 59th minute of the game.

With eight games left before the state tournament’s beginning, they still have a long way to go if they want to bring home another conference championship. So far they have proved themselves to be worthy opponents full of true passion for the game, and this will carry them through the rest of the season.
