Over the course of the past few months I’ve heard more than one adult say 67. I’ve had adults ask me what it means and honestly I never know what to answer. That’s the point, it didn’t make sense. The nonsense of it made 67 a hit. Later on brands tried to jump in on the trend just to find out they killed the fun to it. Nevertheless it’s still a useless trend that probably I enjoyed and will probably ridicule when I’m older.
This is just one of many trends that came,saw, and conquered. Trends really? Yes really, though this may not be an article on political views or how to balance school life it’s one of the most impacting ways some of us will remember the year 2025 or how we will differentiate it from our other high school years. So here are a few unforgettable trends that include food, AI, and fashion choices.
#1 Labubu dolls
When you think of a doll you picture something cute and sweet. This was not the vision that went into making Labubu’s. They were weird honestly but this helped them make a statement. Unlike other dolls Labubu’s teeth gave them some attitude and expression along with being fashionable. Celebrities soon enough started promoting these as if they were emotional support animals. The only difference was that they were dolls!
#2 Dubai Chocolate
Dubai chocolate was one of those trends that came out of nowhere and mostly unexpectedly. But it showed us just how crazy people can become over a trend. People traveled just for this bar of chocolate and found ways to make it at home too. Research says that it was accepted not just by its taste but by its texture and snapping sound. Thanks to Dubai chocolate, unheard of brands became overnight sensations and pistachio’s prices were able to rise thanks to the occasion.
#3 AI haircuts
You read that right AI is starting to do things we never thought it would come to do. Once again we found this great idea in Dubai where a simple machine can turn you from chopped to locked in. First people would go inside a pod looking machine. Thanks to artificial intelligence a good haircut would be achieved by face scanners and algorithms (a process or set of rules to be followed when trying to solve problems mostly by a computer). Though hairdressers had their opinions and probably fears there is no doubt that the future we saw in movies five years ago is becoming our future sooner than we had foreseen.
#4 Brain Rot
As the year went on people started to realize they could no longer deny that their focus thanks to watching short content wasn’t what it used to be. So what did they decide to do? Accept it. Something that could have been seen as embarrassing to admit turned the tables and became a joke and something to laugh about.
#5 The Matcha Craze
In a world of chaos matcha was appointed the calming and relaxing beverage to help us feel at peace. Love for coffee wasn’t the same because it now had a new rival in cafe’s and in brand’s. The craze wasn’t just the drink in itself it was also the appeal. Some people admitted that even though the flavor of matcha wasn’t to their liking the looks of it were inviting. To me the color made it stand out from the crowd and it would make the matcha yell out “I’m here.”
