Oh there’s no place like home for the holidays- or is there? Thanksgiving brings a brief, but welcomed, break from school for most students. And while Thanksgiving is often regarded as a time to spend with family, the extended weekend can also be taken as an opportunity to travel. Here are a couple of the most popular Thanksgiving destinations across the US.

  1. New York City, New York: Home of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, NYC is full of festivities.
  2. Chicago, Illinois: Chicago also has its own Thanksgiving tradition: the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade!
  3. Las Vegas, Nevada: Las Vegas is festive pretty much any time of the year.
  4. Orlando, Florida: Due to its many theme parks, Orlando can be a great place to spend time with family.
  5. Los Angeles, California: Among many attraction is Pershing Square’s annual “Downtown on Ice”, showcasing the city’s holiday spirit.
  6. San Diego, California: Home of the Father Joe’s Thanksgiving Day 5K, all proceeds from this run go to providing a Thanksgiving dinner to those in need.
