The Traitors, hosted by Alan Cumming on Peacock, premiered its fourth season on January 8, 2026, with the finale airing on February 26, 2026. After the massive popularity of Season 3, the show returned with an entirely new cast of celebrities, bigger personalities, and even more strategic gameplay. As the series continues to grow in popularity in the United States, producers have leaned even further into dramatic casting and unpredictable twists to keep the show fresh. Season 4 once again delivered a mix of alliances, betrayals, and shocking eliminations, making it one of the most talked-about seasons of the franchise so far. Spoilers will be included!
Format
Like previous seasons, The Traitors takes place in a castle in the Scottish Highlands where contestants compete in challenges while trying to survive the game of deception. Alan Cumming returns as host, guiding players through missions, banishments, and nightly murders as they compete for a grand prize of up to $250,000.
At the start of the game, a small group of contestants are secretly selected as traitors, while the rest become faithfuls. The faithfuls must work together to identify and banish the traitors before the end of the game, while the traitors attempt to remain hidden and eliminate players one by one.
Each episode includes a mission where players work together to add money to the prize pot. At night, the traitors secretly “murder” a faithful player, eliminating them from the game. The following day, the remaining contestants gather for a roundtable discussion where they vote to banish a player they suspect of being a traitor.
If the faithfuls eliminate all the traitors by the end of the game, they split the prize money. However, if even one traitor remains, that player can take the entire pot for themselves.

Twists
Season 4 introduced several new twists designed to keep both the players and viewers guessing. One of the most notable additions was the concept of a “Secret Traitor,” a hidden role that operated independently from the other traitors.
Unlike the normal traitors, the Secret Traitor’s identity was hidden even from viewers, creating additional mystery around the game. However, the twist did not last long in the season after Donna was eliminated early, which limited its impact on the overall gameplay.
Additionally, this season featured a Dagger that could be used for an extra vote during the round tables. Initially, Natalie earned this dagger; however, Rob used his deductive skills and stole the dagger from Natalie.
As always, players also competed for shields that could protect them from murder during the night. These shields added another layer of strategy, forcing traitors to reconsider their targets and faithfuls to think carefully about when to reveal their protection.
Gameplay
Season 4 was defined by aggressive strategy and unpredictable alliances. Many of the contestants had experience playing social strategy games, which made the roundtable discussions especially intense.
Many fans criticized the faithful players this season, although it looked like they managed to eliminate many traitors on the surface, all of these moves were being masterminded by Rob Rausch behind the scenes. Many banished traitors, such as Candiace, left hints about Rob’s role to the faithfuls, who chose to ignore it, leading to the fans calling them sheep or easily manipulated.
One of the most strategic players of the season was Rob Rausch, who managed to navigate the game while maintaining the trust of the faithful players. His ability to stay calm during banishments and avoid suspicion ultimately helped him survive deep into the competition. He also utilized the strategy of betraying the other traitors early on to manipulate the turret into solely following his command. Overall, he was one of the most dominant players the Traitors franchise has ever encountered, second only to Cirie.
Finale
In the finale, the remaining players were forced to decide whether they trusted each other enough to end the game. Ultimately, Rob Rausch revealed himself as the final traitor standing and claimed the entire prize pot for himself.
Runner-up Maura Higgins made it to the end as a faithful but was unable to eliminate the last traitor before the game concluded, leading to a lot of fans calling her stupid, while others empathized with her in this moment. Post-season, Rob would promise to buy Maura a $10,000 Birkin Bag to make up for his actions throughout the game.
Reception
Season 4 continued the show’s streak of strong viewership and online discussion. With a cast filled with well-known personalities from different franchises, the season generated significant attention across social media and reality TV communities.
Fans particularly enjoyed the mix of strategic players from shows like Survivor, Big Brother, and Love Island, as well as the unpredictable interactions between contestants who had never competed together before. The tension between the Gamers crowd and the Bravo community led to much discourse among players and fans.
However, some viewers criticized certain twists, especially the Secret Traitor, for being confusing and unnecessary compared to the traditional gameplay format. Despite this criticism, the season still delivered plenty of memorable moments with its dominating gameplay and betrayals.
Review & Thoughts
Personally, Season 4 of Traitors has stuck out to me as one of the better seasons of the show, with interesting characters, great strategy, and many betrayals.
Notably, Rob Rausch’s gameplay was especially entertaining to watch, as he managed to lie and betray everyone while keeping up his reputation as the “King of the Faithfuls”. He started the game with 3 other traitors by his side, and played a role in every one of their banishments, proving to be an impressive player, comparable to the iconic Cirie. On the other hand, some of this season’s players competed with little sportsmanship. Candiace, in particular, attacked Rob and his character for his dominating performance in the game. The reunion proved to be tense with the collision of Rob and everyone he betrayed throughout the season, as many competitors remained bitter.
Overall, Season 4 of The Traitors continued to prove why the series has become one of the most entertaining reality competition shows currently on television. The mix of celebrities, intense strategy, and constant twists keeps the game unpredictable from episode to episode.
