Written for Bernie Taupin’s girlfriend at the time (who would become his first wife) Maxine Feibelmann, Elton John produced the music for close friend and songwriter Bernie Taupin’s masterpiece.  This is perhaps my favorite song of all-time, and at the very least, it’s one of my top three.  The cadence and patience of the song along with its intimate emotions really distinguishes it from most other songs that come to mind.  Press play to see if it leaves a mark on you, too.
